Don’t Unfollow, just Mute instead on Instagram!

Do you ever have that one person who you just can’t unfollow but wish they would stop posting every single thing on Instagram? There’s a feature for that!

As some eagle eyed fans noticed this weekInstagram now has an option to mute profiles instead of clicking that unfollow button (because let’s face it, we’d all still want a sneak peak sometimes!)

The mute option is already available on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and What’sApp which can be a God send for when those notifications won’t just stop (unless it’s cute animal pictures in that case, it’s allowed.)

Even when a profile is muted, a notification will still come through if you have been tagged in a photograph or mentioned in a comment and if you so wish, you can still double tap to show some love to ensure they know that you’ve not been completely ignoring them.

Instagram has explained how to mute someone’s profile:

To mute an account tap the … menu in the corner of the post. From there, you can choose whether to mute posts, or mute posts and stories from an account. You can close mute posts and stories by pressing and holding on a story in your tray, or from a profile.”

This feature is still being tested so don’t worry if you haven’t got the mute button yet, you can persevere looking at their account for a little while until the feature is launched.

With the news that Instagram has surpassed 800 millions users the future of Instagram is certainly exciting and rival platform Snapchat who recently went under backlash for their layout change should be taking a page or two from Instagram’s continuing happy ever after story.
