The Rise of Chatbots on Facebook Messenger!

Let me set the scene for you; you’re on the phone to someone and it’s an automated service: “To speak to an advisor, press 1. If you’re at your wits end, hang up and speak to someone face to face.

In recent months, Chatbots have been integrated with social media platforms, aiming to boost the communication between organisation and their customers.

Is this trend growing at an extremely fast pace? Yes. Is this going to be a trend that has a rise and then a drastic fall? Not exactly.

Organisations will come up with extremely quirky ways to ensure that all parts of their business will be communicate on a Chatbot.

One example of this is Italian restaurant Tony Macaroni enticing customers with the chance to win a £1,000 cash prize and free pizza for a year (imagine ALL the toppings!)

Alongside this, in compliance with the ever so wonderful GDPR (because nobody’s been talking about it lately…) They are giving customers the option to subscribe to their messenger Chatbot to keep updated with the latest offers, a quick way to book a table at their closest restaurant and have a conversation as if you’re talking to one of your best friends on Messenger.

The conversation flows with the user sending pre-set phrases to the Bot whom will send back the information asked for, leading to further chat. Exciting, isn’t it?

It’s predicted that Chatbots will be able to drive more sales, increase the number of organisations using them and be the way forward when it comes to the digital aspect of marketing.

There is the subject however of the ‘personal touch’ and not speaking to someone directly involved with the organisation yet Chatbots are the way forward of being cost-effective and getting customers both retaining and potential talking all over their social accounts about their interactions with these Chatbots.
